Wizpresso’s founder, Calvin Cheng, recently spoke at HSBC’s AI Ambassador Network. Over 200 colleagues from HSBC and Hang Seng Bank attended the session, which spanned Asia, MENA, and Europe and highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in banking.

Calvin shared his key takeaways from conducting POC with a range of financial institutions:
- Focus on Practical Applications: Prioritize investments in Large Language Model (LLM) applications rather than solely in the models themselves. This approach ensures tangible business outcomes and maximizes ROI.
- Process Optimization for Productivity: When introducing new AI solutions, focus on optimizing processes to enhance productivity per staff member. This strategy often yields more immediate benefits than aiming for full automation.
- Iterative AI Implementation: Recognize that AI integration is a continuous process, not a one-time event. It requires ongoing evaluation, refinement, and adaptation to achieve optimal results.
- Addressing Accuracy Challenges: Most accuracy issues with AI implementations stem from data quality or user input rather than the AI model itself. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure robust data management and user training practices.
- Transparency in AI Deployment: Maintain transparency regarding the processes and methodologies used when implementing AI agents. This fosters trust and understanding among stakeholders.
- Realistic Expectations for AI: Set realistic expectations by acknowledging that AI systems are not inherently magical solutions. If a problem cannot be solved by humans, it is unlikely that AI alone will resolve it. AI should be seen as a tool that enhances human capabilities rather than replacing them entirely.
“I am thrilled to have shared my insights with the AI Ambassador Network. The future of banking is deeply intertwined with AI, and it’s crucial that we harness this technology to create more efficient, secure, and personalized services for our clients. I look forward to continuing this conversation and exploring how AI can shape the future of financial services,” said Calvin. As an alumnus of HSBC, Calvin brought a unique perspective to the event, emphasizing the importance of responsible AI adoption in driving sustainable growth in the financial sector.
