Wizpresso was honoured to be featured at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s FiNETech7 event, “Data Excellence as Catalyst: Intelligent Risk Management,” co‑hosted with Cyberport at the HKMA Auditorium.

Highlighting data excellence and intelligent risk
FiNETech7 convened over 280 professionals from banks, securities firms, insurers, MPF trustees and technology providers to explore how next‑generation data infrastructure can unlock smarter, more resilient risk management. The event also marked the announcement of Granular Data Reporting (GDR) 3.0, a multi‑year revamp of regulatory data collection guided by the principle of “report once, use multiple.”

In her opening remarks, Carmen Chu, Executive Director (Banking Supervision) of the HKMA, introduced the DataGRID framework—granularity, reliability, ingenuity and discoverability—as the attributes of data excellence that will transform risk data into actionable intelligence. The HKMA underscored that data should move beyond a pure compliance obligation to become a strategic differentiator for financial institutions in managing emerging risks.
Building on our previous participation in the FiNETech series, Wizpresso joined FiNETech7 as one of the showcased solution providers in the exhibition area. Our team demonstrated how Wizpresso’s AI‑powered platforms help financial institutions and listed companies transform unstructured disclosures, regulatory filings and ESG reports into high‑quality, granular data that aligns with HKMA’s vision of DataGRID and GDR 3.0.
Through interactive demos, we showed how our natural language processing and large language models can automate compliance monitoring, narrative analysis and reporting workflows, reducing manual review time while enhancing transparency and auditability. These capabilities directly support more intelligent risk management by enabling institutions to “slice and dice” information at the transaction, counterparty and collateral levels, echoing the HKMA’s focus on fine‑grained data.
Supporting the rollout of GDR 3.0
A key theme of the event was the practical implementation of GDR 3.0, including co‑design between the HKMA and authorized institutions and the gradual replacement of template‑based surveys with granular data submissions. By converting complex textual disclosures into structured, machine‑readable data, Wizpresso’s solutions aim to help banks and corporates meet evolving reporting expectations while improving internal risk insight.

Looking ahead, the HKMA highlighted that GDR 3.0 will lay the groundwork for on‑demand, straight‑through reporting, allowing data to be transmitted in response to fast‑moving market events rather than fixed cycles. Wizpresso is committed to supporting this direction with tooling that enables real‑time data extraction, quality checks and traceability across the reporting pipeline.
Strengthening collaboration across the ecosystem
FiNETech7 brought together regulators including the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), Insurance Authority and MPFA, alongside industry associations such as The Hong Kong Association of Banks and the FinTech Association of Hong Kong, as well as partners KPMG China and Quinlan & Associates. The exhibition and cross‑sector panel discussions showcased how data excellence, underpinned by advanced analytics and AI, can turn regulatory compliance and risk oversight into long‑term strategic advantages.

For Wizpresso, the event was a valuable opportunity to deepen dialogue with banking supervisors, financial institutions and ecosystem partners about real‑world use cases—such as climate and ESG risk, conduct surveillance, and disclosure analytics—where high‑quality data and responsible AI can meaningfully raise industry standards. We are excited to continue contributing to Hong Kong’s Fintech Promotion Blueprint and to collaborate with the HKMA and market participants in building a data‑driven, intelligence‑enabled financial system.
